The inspiration for the piece was the morning fog rolling in softly and low over the meadow in the background.
Colors are predominately green and burnt sienna /ultramarine with accents of grey.

This oil was painted facing the Vaughn House on Monhegan Island from Swim Beach. It was a very still evening with the sun setting behind Manana just
at the start of "mosquito hour". The piece is done entirely in burnt umber and titanium white empahasizing the "grisailles" effect .

This painting was done atop BurntHead looking toward WhiteHead. The ocean was a deep dark blue and the vegetation was in full summer regalia.
This painting is jewel-like in tone and is the perfect example of a beautiful July morning on Monhegan.
